How it all started

In 2008, during a visit to Myanmar, I saw school-aged children working in tea houses. That experience stayed with me and inspired me to find a way to support them.

By 2017, I began donating computers and laptops to schools and universities across Myanmar, as well as providing basic computer training.

With the support of our local community in Sydney and the Myanmar community across Australia, what began as a small effort in 2017 slowly grew into something much bigger. Together, we have managed to send five full containers of IT equipment to Myanmar—each one packed with hope, opportunity, and the belief that education can change lives.

In 2024, I spent time volunteering in Mae Sot, Thailand—a place that quickly felt like a second home. There, I taught English and shared life skills ranging from computer literacy and self-learning to financial literacy and health awareness. Some of my favorite moments were running chess lessons and organizing school excursions, watching the students’ curiosity and confidence grow with every new experience.

Kyaw founded the Rising Sun Foundation with a simple but powerful dream: to give children the chance to learn, grow, and imagine a brighter future through digital literacy and education. What started as a personal mission soon became a movement—one built on hope, compassion, and the belief that every child deserves a fair start.
Today, Kyaw continues this journey across Australia, Thailand, Myanmar, and beyond. With every classroom he visits and every child he supports, he carries the same belief that guided him from the beginning: education has the power to unlock potential, inspire confidence, and transform lives.
